It's hard to believe that so long has gone by and it is already November, blogging kind of got side tracked with everything else going on in life... sorry about that.
We are now looking forward to Christmas, which seems like it was only yesterday, but here it comes again hurtling towards us- 48 sleeps to go 🎄🎄 our Christmas Academy is looking very festive and exciting. So the main things we need to consider now are Christmas Presents.
What to get the 8 going on 13 year old?? She is getting too big for the traditional toys, and is too young still for the 'Tween' presents. One thought is tickets to a show or concert, but will she be happy with that if she has nothing to open on the day? Apparently a little bit of make up is what she wants, even though she has nowhere to wear it! She loves reading, but which titles are the ones to get, I am finding this age very difficult to suss out- are we being too strict on her? Would we be letting her grow up too quickly it we weren't? How does anyone know that they are doing the right thing? Books, experiences, clothes are all things she would enjoy and benefit from, but she won't really enjoy the unwrapping of them. So, if you have any ideas comment below and we will collate a list of suggestions to share with everyone 😁
Then there is little Mr, 6 years old within weeks of Christmas so double the presents to buy, but so many options to choose from it's overwhelming. He would be happy with anything dinosaur, ninja, power rangers, books, school workbooks, colouring, a football, honestly, there are just so many different options that I don't know where to start! I could buy something one day, and then the next see something else he would like, and by Christmas he would have a whole toy shop to unwrap 😂
I am being serious though, if you have any ideas at all then please, please comment- we could all benefit from some inspiration at this time of year (and before the sales start)
Hello everyone.... how fast has this year started off already? It is just flying by.
So many plans to get on top of and things to get in place to ensure The Fairy Academy has a great year!
Have you seen our Slumber Parties? We have been inundated with people asking for party options, unfortunately at this time we have not been able to develop a party package that is suitable for our budding fairies and also provides the grown ups with the value for money we would want to offer- this is still under review so if you have any special requests get in touch and we will be happy to discuss with you. In the mean time we have some gorgeous teepees available that can be hired with our airbeds and decorations. For further details see our Parties page. You can even receive a midnight feast basket as well!
Birthday Academy- nominate your deserving fairy to attend
If you have been following us from the start you might remember us talking about a Birthday Academy, in May it will be 1 year since we took over The Fairy Academy and we want to share the good fortune with others who are either less fortunate or who are not in a position to be treated to a place on the Fairy Academy at the moment. We are asking for nominations of budding fairies aged 3- 7 who you think would be deserving of a place on the academy along with a short explanation of the reason for the nomination, we will select fairies to win a place at the academy. Please share this, and send your nominations to The Fairy Godmother at firstname.lastname@example.org The birthday academy is planned on Sunday May 20th so the chosen fairies would need to be able to get to the Fairy Dell on that day.
One of the exciting developments for this year is the plan to offer Afternoon Teas at the Fairy Dell, we are working with the Food Hygiene Fairies to make sure the Fairy Dell is approved and suitable for use. We are busy investigating menu options, décor and ensuring the pricing is suitable. Anyone with a magical ideas should let us know- if they are new to us and used to shape our Afternoon Teas then you could receive a special Fairy Voucher to try it for yourself!
Fairy Helpers Wanted!
Calling anyone who has a long standing desire to be a Fairy- we are always looking for grown ups to add to our Fairy helper list. Be it as an actual Fairy, as a helper on the academy day with set up, administration or clearing up, or as a Marketing Fairy helping us spread the word distributing leaflets, sharing our posts on social media, giving us honest feedback so that we can make decisions to give the best experience to our budding fairies.
Please keep in touch Fairy Followers, the Fairy Dell is a place of magic and we are so looking forward to sharing that with more of you.
Love and Sparkles,
Head Fairy Elle x
Hello Everyone, I don't know if you are going to read this but if you do, I would love you to comment and let me know your thoughts.
It's the summer holidays, for us we are now at the end of week 2 and it has been such a busy 2 weeks. Before we had the opportunity to take on The Fairy Academy we decided instead of going abroad for a holiday we would instead have a few weekends away then a few days in the UK. So far Fairy Freya and I have been to Wimbledon- the Ladies Finals of all things and I cannot put into words what an amazing experience it was! Then last weekend we went to the Para Athletics at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium as a family and it was the most amazing event to be a part of. These athletes have been through something that able bodied people can only imagine (and I guess not very well at that), then they have faced it head on and decided to prove that they are the best in the World at their chosen sport.
The inspiration rolled off them, their commitment and determination to succeed combined with their very obvious pleasure that people were there to watch them and knew their names. They came across as so humble despite their actions being more impressive than the able bodied athletes who will be on view to the whole world in a couple of weeks.
When I was growing up I never really knew what I wanted to do with my life, I knew I wanted to be a Mummy, and I knew I wanted to make a difference in other peoples lives. So far I have had limited opportunity to do that, but this is my chance. Giving budding fairies the chance to make magical memories that will last them a lifetime is a start, but there is more we can do- and we will.
You may have seen our Dr Who themed post on Facebook, in case you didn't we are open to boy and girl fairies between 3 and 7 years. We will also welcome budding fairies who have special needs, who have a disability, who are very shy or who may need to be accompanied by a big fairy constantly. All we ask is that we are advised of any special requirements well in advance so that we are able to plan the right number of big fairies to be there to lend a helping wing.
One thing that we would love your input on is a thought that has been growing steadily over the last few months. In May each year it will be our Birthday Academy, so one of the ways we are thinking of celebrating is by giving away 1 free Fairy Space to someone who deserves it. This is still to be finalised (as making any decision is going to be very hard), but current plans are to have a nomination process where our Fairy Followers can nominate a deserving budding fairy and either our Fairy Family or our Fairy Followers will then have the very hard decision to choose a winner. The budding fairy could be a very young carer, someone who has lost a close family member, someone who has been going through a very hard time of it for any reason at all and we want it to be a magical moment for them to let their imagination soar. What do you think? Could this be how we make a bigger difference to the world?
Before then we need to get ready for school- Fairy Freddie will be starting in September, so the next few weeks are about making enough memories to get him through to October and then Christmas when we will have the chance again. Having special happy memories to get you through the long cold days of school in winter is so very important!
We cannot wait to meet our first Fairies in a few short weeks (which will go very quickly in the rush of the summer holidays!) and every single Fairy we meet will be special to us.
Happy Holidays Fairy Followers!
Love and Sparkles,

Argh- the time is almost here- how did we get to this?? My baby will be in school in a couple of very fast months!
To say this time has gone fast is such an understatement, and I so wish I had been more organised, more clued up and more clear about where I needed to be for the good of my family years ago.
Only now am I actually doing something about getting our family a better lifestyle, I was so hung up on the day job and the salary that it brings being a comfort blanket. Paying for our lovely house, cars, holidays and other niceties that I thought I had to be OK with the time I was spending away from my babies.
The truth is, out of their lives they spend 5 days a week from 7:30am to 6:00pm (usually) with someone other than me. Now that is only 32.5% of the week, but when they then spend 41% asleep that means I get 26.5% with them- providing I have no life away from them and spend every single minute with them. Which just isn't true. I think I spend 23% of an average week with my children- 23%! How has that ever become OK???
The problem now is, to change that and make it so I can spend more time with them I need to get a job where I can work only the hours they are at school, which pays a full time salary and is actually at home so I don't have any travel time to contend with. Where am I going to find a job like that? Nowhere I can think of- if you know of anyone that will pay me that well for working school hours (and term time only of course) then please put me in touch immediately!
So what can we do? Make the most of the time we do spend together- that 23% has got to mean everything to them, and me because it is that we will all remember. Cleaning gets in the way, ironing gets in the way, shopping gets in the way so I rarely do any of those things- I would rather pay someone to clean my house and iron my clothes so I can spend that time with my children and click and collect shopping is the way forward for me.
But, is that enough? Will those few saved hours give us the memories we want and deserve? I don't think so, and I am annoyed with myself for not thinking this through a few years ago and coming to the same conclusion or I would be further down the journey we are on now than we are.
My solution- to become a business owner, to take my future and that of my family into my own hands. If I work hard, put in the effort during that 41% of the week that the kids are in bed (like right now), be confident and offer something that other people could want then I can give myself the opportunity to increase the 23% in the future. It won't be quick, and it wont be easy, it may take years before I can get even 2% more time with my children but they will know I tried. And they will know what hard work is- working full time, supporting their school and local clubs, building a business and hopefully showing them what it is to have a good work ethic and take personal responsibility for the outcomes and place in life that I have now.
Who knows what the future holds? Will I make it to 25%, 30% or more?? Or will I stick on 23% until they are too grown up to want to be with me anyway? I don't know, but I am not going to sit still and wait. I am going to try, I am going to fight for our future, I am going to put myself out there in uncomfortable situations (like discussing personal thoughts in public!) and I am going to make The Fairy Academy the best experience for little people that it could be.
I would love for you all to join us on this journey, your support means so much to us all. A like or share on facebook, a nice word in person, passing on our details to friends who may be interested, giving us suggestions of places where we could grow and develop- sharing our excitement and enthusiasm and generally being the lovely Fairy Followers that we know you are. It all helps. It could all impact that 23%
Welcome to my Fairy Academy Blog
Eeek! This is exciting, our very first blog as Head Fairies at The Fairy Academy 💕
We are a family of 4, Karl, Elle, Freya and Freddie and although we aren’t going to be working full time on the Academy that doesn’t mean we won’t be putting 100% effort into making sure it is a Magical experience.
Freya attended the Academy twice and as you can see from her picture in the email, she absolutely loved it. It has long been my dream to make a difference to childrens lives, and to do so in a safe environment where they can be themselves and let their imaginations soar. This opportunity was one we couldn’t pass up- so much so that we had made contact with the lovely previous owners within minutes of them posting about their decision to sell the business.
So if you have been before, or have been waiting for Academy dates, please don’t worry, we won’t be making sweeping changes or getting rid of any favoured elements (apart from the change in Fairies of course).
We do have plans for the future, including adding some more gender neutral opportunities and *spoiler alert* maybe a Pirate themed Academy or two so you will notice we have been using the new logo in some areas and will continue to do so.
For now we are focusing on our VIP launch party- everyone on our mailing list by July 16th will be in the draw to win 1 free to Fairy Place 😀 Academy dates have been set for September and October and all details will be on the website.
Please email The Fairy Godmother on email@example.com if you would like any further details.
